Go Back to Black

I find this article very interesting. I never knew that Jesse Jackson convinced America that black people should be called African American. I also find it interesting that in America the official name is American American, but in Britian which is close in culture and customs they say black. I found the fact that the author did not prefer to be called African American very interesting because African American was the term given to black people in order to give them a sense of having a link to Africa. It gave black people a sense of pride of enduring slavery for years then being able to overcome it. I thought that including Barrack Obama in this article was a good example of the term African American. The writer says that black people all over the world feel pride in the accomplishment of Barrack Obama, and that to me is cool. Race all over the world unites people whether you realize it or not and even people that do not live in this country feel a sense of pride in an African American getting the Democratic nomination.
